Hello! Hope everyone had a Merry Whatever-You-Celebrate. My vacation was suppose to be from the 24th through the 2nd, but of course I was called in a few times. Almost time to go back to work and I don’t feel like I had a vacation at all. Plus the kid and the husband have been sick the entire time. No fun!

I made four small goals at the beginning of 2012. Before this place turned from home improvement to {mostly} personal finance. Here’s a recap of the goals and how I/we did…

Put together a budget and stick to it. PASS!
It took me until April to get it figured out, and there will always be tweaks to it here and there, but overall I’m very happy with what I’ve accomplished when it comes to our budget. I plan to continue my spreadsheet & notebook method throughout 2013 since this seems to work best for me.

Manage my time better. FAIL.
I just suck at this. Our life is chaotic. We both work full-time and have side jobs, plus raising a toddler. It’s still overwhelming. I recently started to get help with my anxiety and I’m hoping this helps improve other aspects of my life, specifically family and time management.

Stop living out of boxes. Kinda pass?!
We’ve unpacked 75% of boxes, but unfortunately I’m still living out of boxes in the kitchen, because there is NO cabinet space for my stuff. One day I will have a kitchen that’s worth a damn.

Keep up with giveaways. FAIL.
I entered a few throughout the year, but was not active in keeping up with the entries. This could fall under the time management fail. I didn’t win anything in 2012.

There you have it. 2012 was a failure as far as goals go, but while I think 2012 sucked in so many ways, I think it was a year of facing reality and getting our finances on track. I’m still learning the in’s and out’s of finances, debt, and hope to get into investing at some point in the near future. Overall I’d give myself an A+ in the money department and a D- in life, ha! Be back with 2013 goals soon.
